Earn An Online College Degree

A college degree is a long term goal for many people.

An online college degree serves as a record of effort expended earning recognition through learning.

A college degree may also serve as a personal marketing tool.

That degree makes a nice addition to your resume if you are looking for a wage slave position, or an acknowledgment of completion on your business materials if you are self employed.

Knowledge is the basis of positive change.

In finance there is a rule of thumb for large investors. If they own a great deal of stock in a company and notice the company has not, and will not, repair a flawed business plan; they sell their stock to protect themselves. They will then sell short more stock to profit from the collapse they anticipate. Their sales may alert others to investigate and the stock may start it's decline.

I believe as the network society takes hold our traditional, inefficient, expensive, snobbish, government supported and regulated universities must change. They have a flawed business plan for the information society. That finance rule of thumb? If something is going to fall, it should to be pushed.

Innovation by the entrepreneur, argued Schumpeter, led to gales of "creative destruction" as innovations caused old inventories, ideas, technologies, skills, and equipment to become obsolete. The question, as Schumpeter saw it, was not "how capitalism administers existing structures,... [but] how it creates and destroys them." This creative destruction, he believed, caused continuous progress and improved standards of living for everyone.

Bastiat Free University is creating an alternative learning system; cost appropriate learning customized by and for the individual. We offer what a renaissance student needs; affordable higher education self tailored to fit your goals. One day, if BFU does not continue to innovate and meet our student's needs, we will be pushed out by an even better system.

That would be wonderful.

Student Directed Education - Liberty In Action

.

From child-directed home schooling through student-directed university courses and on to a self-directed life - freedom is the choice to act and do as you wish as long as it does not infringe on other's similar rights.

"Whenever is found what is called a paternal government, there is found state education. It has been discovered that the best way to ensure implicit obedience is to commence tyranny in the nursery."Benjamin Disraeli, 1874

"The private sector of the economy is, in fact, the voluntary sector; and...the public sector is, in fact, the coercive sector." - Henry Hazlitt

"If a law is unjust, a man is not only right to disobey it, he is obligated to do so." - Thomas Jefferson

"It's not an endlessly expanding list of rights - the "right" to education, the "right" to health care, the "right" to food and housing. That's not freedom, that's dependency. Those aren't rights, those are the rations of slavery - hay and a barn for human cattle." - Alexis De Tocqueville (1805-1859)

"We've been thoroughly trained in government institutions where every day for twelve of our most impressionable years we took a loyalty oath before starting our work." - Hal O'Boyle

"Public schools are government-established, politician- and bureaucrat-controlled, fully politicized, taxpayer-supported, authoritarian socialist institutions." - Thomas L. Johnson

Adult Education & Distance e-Learning

What is your goal in seeking adult education through distance learning?

  • to learn about a particular subject

  • to earn a Bachelor Degree

  • to earn a Master Degree

  • or

  • to earn a Doctorate Degree

If your goal is to learn about a particular subject rather than earning a university degree online - head to Bastiat Free University and register for and monitor courses - for free.

Study what you want, as and when you want, no restrictions - one benefit of the BFU type of distance learning school. You only pay if you decide to work for an adult education degree.

If you want a degree your choices in adult education distance learning are much broader.

Why do you want the degree?

If it is as a self marketing tool to get a wage slave job in a bureaucracy - you will need a degree from an accredited university - that is going to cost you. The cost at an accredited university is high in time as well as money - time wasted in required courses - sometimes classes without substance. The cost in money is both direct and indirect - as deferred earnings.

If a secure job in a bureaucracy is your goal - consider this a warning of the dark side of adult education - and enjoy your pursuit.

If you are still wondering if adult education is for you - consider starting your own business first - then learning what you need to know through distance learning to keep your business growing.

The probable last option for wanting a degree is that you already have a successful business - but no diploma. Distance learning is in many ways the prefered way to work toward an adult education diploma.

If you want that degree you can earn it inexpensively at BFU, in your time, for your reasons.

Online Economics Course - In One Article

This is not Economics In One Lesson by Henry Hazlitt - Hazlett's book is required reading to understand money and governments. This book is also used in some BFU courses.

No -- this article is on the current state of monetary affairs outlined by a successful speculator (and surprisingly an economist) - Dr. Marc Faber.

Dr. Faber writes the useful the Gloom Doom and Boom newsletter - and is a frequent speaker at investment conferences. These are the kind of conferences that economists usually avoid - they talk about speculation.

Faber is interviewed about his outspoken views on myths of the markets. He takes the time to also attack sacred financial institutions that work against a stable economy.

What I find most interesting are his views on the markets, currencies, and international trends.

It will only take a few minutes to gain Marc Faber's insights - and they may provide some very valuable personal insights on speculation for you.

Consider this article as a preamble to a finance course - it makes too much sense to be economics.

Business Owners - Earn Your Degree

If it is important to you to earn your diploma - than it is important.

You are already successful.

You may have taken some classes and attended seminars that provided relevant information for your business - but now you want to complete your degree.

There may be courses outside of the business discipline that you would like to pursue, but you want to avoid fluff and wasted time earning empty units.

Self Directed e-learning such as that offered by Bastiat Free University will allow you to create your own degree path. Take the courses you feel are relevant, complete them at your pace.

In on-line universities you have three choices:

  • A computerized diploma mill that will ask you some questions and give you a degree - for a price. The degree is really not earned - no knowledge has been gained.
  • An unaccredited school such as Bastiat Free University that offers real courses is the next option. Without the high costs of accreditation a better price is available. You will have to use your own business drive to complete the diploma requirements - no one will be looking over your shoulder driving you.
  • You can attend an accredited university. Some top names offer easy diploma mill deals for successful business people - they want to point at you as a successful graduate - and of course take a chunk of your money.

There is the option of attending a regular college, but few of us have sufficient time to dedicate returning to the bureaucratic halls of learning.

Many of the options available to you are a mixture of the above. We just ask that you would consider Bastiat Free University in your long list
of prospective schools.

We know we will have to earn a spot on the short list.

Free Online Investment Concept Course

Much deeper than just the financial implications, this free course will get you thinking.

First off is a new well done documentary on a speculation tool that exceeds its stated purpose.

Next is a free ten part tutorial that defines the basic theory and then amplifies the concepts presented.

This is but one investment tool - but it is a valuable one.

There are counter arguments presented that deserve some thought also.

All of this at no cost to you.

Allow an hour to view the documentary - with some time to consider the implications.

If you find this intriguing, you will also find links to further information.

Go check out the documentary review at Speculation Rules!
